Odds are, when you hear the name Rebecca Black, a familiar tune about a specific day of the week pops into your head. Whether you like it or not is up to you, but as of February 10th, 2020, it's officially been nine years since "Friday" was uploaded to the Internet and Rebecca Black's life changed forever.

Being 13 at the time, she lived nearly every teenager's dream by creating a professional song and music video (paid for by her parents). A month later, Rebecca's dream turned into a nightmare.

People were already labeling her song as “the worst song ever” and a 13-year-old girl was torn apart across a multitude of media outlets. When has the Internet ever truly been nice? Surely there's an answer for that, but ridiculing young Rebecca Black is one of its dark points.

The ridicule made Rebecca feel ashamed and haunted her throughout most of her adolescence. But now, nine years to the day, Rebecca has sent a message to us all.

Her tweet went viral almost instantly from people commenting with support. She made history, survived the Internet trolls, and is still making music today.

As one Twitter user mentioned, it seems as if Rebecca just barely missed the iconic Internet phase we're currently in. Or perhaps, she kicked it off?

Anyways, kudos to Rebecca Black for the 9-year anniversary of her first song.
